3 July 2022 Spending the day with Mark and Ina
Mark had offered to take us on the walk in Mudlo National Park in the morning so we took him up on his offer.
The arrangement we made was to meet Mark and Ina at their house at 10am, we drove into the camping area at Gre’valley to check it out before driving up to the house

Certainly another suitable pretty area for camping

Once we met up with our hosts, we followed them in their car out of the property, onto Running Creek rd

Over the running creek in the opposite direction to the way we have been going out on, to link up with Mudlo Rd
Mudlo Rd started out as surfaced but then became a gravel rd

but then I could see a sign a bit to the right with directions for the continuation of the track

Couldn’t help myself taking more photos of the vegetation

This is my AllTrails tracking map of our walk. Unfortunately I forgot to start the tracking at the beginning again, so the timing is all wrong

This is Bill’s Gaia tracking map..

After we had finished our walk we continued on along Mudlo road as far as we could go, before entering private property, apparently the local MPs property
Forgot to take any photos but we had lunch at the Kilkivan hotel. We knew that pubs usually stop serving lunches at 2pm and I knew that we would be there a little after 2 so I rang to let them know that we were coming. They were excellent and still served us.
Roos welcoming us on the property

When we got back to where we had parked the cars before heading off on our walk Ina spent time with Fierce throwing the ball for him to collect

More sunset photos as we drove back to our campsite

However, we ended up spending all day with them, and a fabulous day it was too,

I had found this information about Mudlo on the web, the day before

We parked at the start of this track

But the start of the track to Pearson lookout was the other side of the creek

Some amazing historic trees along the way

and interesting vines

Quite a few steps to ascend along the way

The sun did start to come out on our way up

There were a couple of these well build stone seats on the way up

There were quite a few very tall old pine trees in this park too

And so many interesting plant features within the park…

Growth on the trees

Unusual plants

Interesting coloured bark on some trees

Creepers

Ferns

Moss on trees

Interesting fungi

Thick wooded forest

Pretty flowers
Moss on the ground

Finally reached the lookout

and were rewarded with fabulous clear views

Can even see Neureum mountain from here

Sunlight on the tall pines making the view even more picturesque

Thrilled that we could share this experience with Mark and Ina who hadn’t been up here before and knowing that we were keen to get out and about exploring the area, wanted to bring us up here.

Ina did a great job of capturing this shot of us up here

She also took some interesting arty shots

View across the valley from the lookout with beautiful cloud formations

More vines on the trees spotted on the way down

When we reached the start of the walk I decided to go part of the way along the Scrubby Creek walk. It looked like it enddd up at the creek

A few landslides visible in the area

Water from Running Creek across the road in a few places

End of the road for us

Got the chance to get photos of the creek that we were following

Passed another landslide

Cows meandering across the road in many places

Lush pastures for the cattle here

On the way back into Kilkivan we went past the massive Equestrian centre

Mark and Ina had heard that ownership of the pub had changed hands so were keen to try the meals as they weren’t impressed with the food served previously. Meals not bad but still not all that impressive!!
After getting back to the property Mark and Ina offered to show us around
This section of the map shows us driving on the property
Roos welcoming us on the property
First of all we checked out the 2 Villas

Then we continued on around the track to a campsite around the back

Then Mark and Ina took us on the tracks around the property that we hadn’t already been on..,

Spotted this fungi on the track along the way

Bill and Mark coming up the steep hill on the side of Mt Neureum

Heading towards what they have called Southern Platform

On Southern Platform- a huge rock formation

Mt Andrew in the background

One of the tables that they have placed around the property

Views across the valleys

Nice cloud formation - enjoying the lack of rain!!

One of the signs. This is where we have come from, continuing on the track round

Heading towards Gre’s valley

Pretty flowers from the puff balls

Looking down into Gre’s valley

Our campsite is just over this hill

As we were heading back we could see a pretty sunset developing

So I went crazy and took heaps of photos

At one point I spotted the crescent moon so had to get a shot of that

This photo includes the moon and the spotlight that Mark has set up to highlight the rock face

Then more photos of the sunset evolving
