29 June 2022 Hiking and Cycling
We decided to head off on a walk first thing after a coffee.
Views back down to the van as we were heading up

Good views of the surrounding countryside on the way up
and down to our van

Track was quite steep in places

But rewarding views both on the way and at the top

Did the loop walk back to the van, going via one of the dams

Passed a section of the road damaged during the floods

Back to our campsite

I used AllTrails to record our walk.

Goomeri
and Murgon,

and pulling in at Wondai

We parked at the place that we camped at when we here 4 years ago. We went and had a bite to eat at the same place that we had been to then too!!!

We noticed a few different things in the town, namely some new artworks

By the time we set off on the trail it was 2pm. Before heading off we called into the information office to ask if there was anything that we needed to know about the trail south from here. They gave us a map that showed us the incline of the trail that we could look forward to!!!
The steepest part being the section that we were about to embark on!!! Turned out that it wasn’t too bad. Of course it took us much longer to reach Wooroolin our final destination for today, than to return to Wondai.
Stopped a few times along the way to take photos of various things….
Pretty coloured beehives

One of the regular KKRT safety marker posts with distances marked on them

Every road crossing had safety barriers across them

More of the pretty flowers that I saw yesterday
We stopped at Tingoora to chat to a group who were doing a charity ride with Nathan, who has a rare disease, to support him

Took a few photos here…
Information sign about Tingoora station

Information signs about the loop trails from this point

Several photos of the bridge

The heritage bridge that we crossed over

We decided that there was still enough time to push on to Wooroolin. More uphill but a pleasant ride.
We discovered the fact that the Wooroolin station building had been moved once the line closed but then was moved back for the rail trail opening

The end of our ride for today

One of the Rail Trail information boards giving some information about the rail trail and history of the line

This Thrashing shed has been restored

More Peanut history in this cage

The Wooroolin Station that was moved back

We cycled back part of the way along Parallel Road. Much nicer on the dirt road!!!!

Unfortunately we had to rejoin the trail here as the road ended

Back in Wondai . Whilst Bill put the bikes back on the car I checked out these 2 cute sculptures.

This is my Allttails record of our ride…

Diagram of the complete Kilkivan to Kingaroy Rail Trail

Decided to stop off somewhere on the way back for dinner rather than making the effort and braving the cold when we got back. So pleased we found this place….

Very busy, very popular, can see why… great friendly service, delicious meals in a cosy, comfortable environment

Shower and bed when we got back to the van
Ina had provided us with a map containing details of all the walks on the property
She also pointed out there was a walk from our campsite up Mt Andrew and ending up at The Bluff

I used AllTrails to record our walk.
Rest of the morning was spent at campsite, having breakfast, setting up new Flexi solar panels and getting bikes ready on the car.
Headed out after midday, through the property gates that have an ingenious way of being opened - just ring a specific phone number from my designated phone and hey presto the gate opens!
We drove south through Kilkivan,

Easy ride as it was all surfaced, although it wasn’t comfortable to ride on as it was quite gravelly.

A specially designed seat (there were a few of these along the way)
